Pearl Harbor

He just couldn't get the name right. I'd say Pearl Harbor and Bubba would say Girl Harbor. I guess it makes sense, he lives in a female dominated world. Kai and I have a fondness for Pearl Harbor and a deep respect and sense of gratitude for those who were there on that fateful day on December 7, 1941 It took us 2hours and 45 minutes to travel to Pearl Harbor. The reason why has to do with this big rushing river that runs parallel to the road. The river flooded the road and poured of into the ocean. We were almost to Kaneohe when we had to turn around and go the other way. I was about to call the day over, but Kai decided that we should just keep going.
I'm glad we did. Behind Chris and Sarah is a the bridge to Ford Island. Grandpa Davis crossed that bridge every day as he went to work.

After a short film about the day Pearl Harbor was bombed, we road this ferry to the USS Arizona Memorial.

It breaks my heart to see how close the ship is to the surface of the sea. What a tragedy to have so many men die entombed in this vessel. I would hate to drown.
Oil from the ships tanks still seep to the surface.
Cambria touching the smoke stack with her foot.

Guns at the ready.
Bubba in a Plumeria tree.

The view of Pearl Harbor from Grandpa Davis' porch deck. This is also where we went for safety during the Tsunami.
It is a Davis tradition to have photo on Grandpa Davis' stair case. I wish we were still there.
Especially as the summer draws near. I hate the desert:)

Eight is Great!

My eldest turned eight today. Cambria is such a wonderfully sweet girl. I not only love her, but I really like her. She is tender hearted, has soft feelings, loves to plan parties on large scales, and is a friend to those in need. Cambria's delivery was easy. I felt absolutely no pain. I laughed while I was pushing her out. She was small and had straight, jet black hair. Me: Wow, I just realized how friendly people are in Mesquite. If you smile at them, they smile back. Here in Hawaii, every one just ingnores you. Cambria: Let me tell you what my teacher said and what my friend said, lets just say, I've heard it from a lot of people, If you smile, the whole world smiles with you.

Cambria is 8 pages away from finishing 1 Nephi. She is trying to finish before she gets baptized.
Every morning Cambira pours a three bowls of cereal. One for herself, one for her sister and one for her brother. She says she already knows what it is like to be a mom.
Cambria has a very adventurous spirit. She loves to try knew activities and makes friends wherever she goes.

She is afraid of heights.
Cambria is great at organizing games and activities with other kids.
She is resposible for the anual "popsicle parade" that we do with friends and neighbors every year.
She is really sad that she doesn't live on a farm and hopes to someday.
She swims like a fish and has since she was little.
She could whistle at age one.
SHe takes of nail polish and tattoos almost 10 minutes exactly after putting them on.
She wiped out on a wave and got scarde so e drew a picture of herself crying and then drew a big arrow in the sand that pointed to her lying next to the picture.

We almost named her Cambia Solis Ku'uleialoha.
She loves to cook.
She wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up.
She is a peace maker.

Cambria calls me, her and Kai the "original" family.

I can't say enough goo things about Cambria. She is sweet and really cares about people's feelings.

Turning Six

There is a reason why I not only love Kiera, but why I like her. She never does what I think she will do. Her brain processes the world in a way that fills everyday with surprise. She is fun. She is sweet. She is sassy. Kiera's delivery was really difficult. There was so much pain that it was almost like an out of body experience. All I could see was blackness and it felt like the doctors were speaking to me through a really long tunnel.
Thankfully she was healthy and though the pain was intense, it was fleeting. I felt better in record time.
Kiera is my vanilla child and dearly hopes that Raia will turn out to be the same because she doesn't like being the only one with vanilla hair.
It has been a year full of surprises for Kiera. Kindergarten brought to light a version of herself that none of us were aware existed.
My child who hated any form of exercise became a competitor. She is constantly winning races and competitions at school. I never expected that:) I am pleasantly surprised.
In fact in Hawaii, She was the one who took to surfing the most. She stood up time after time, usually riding the waves until she hit the sand.
She likes tattoos and hates fruits and vegetables.
However she can now eat a small amount of corn and one green bean without throwing up or complaining . . . too much. It has taken a lot of practice.
Kiera loves to use big words like, literally.
Kiera thinks she won't turn six until she blows out her candle.
Kiera wants to be a mansion wife and often asks me what kind of a job she needs to get to make a lot of money.
She wants to live in the jungle.
When I paint her nails, each one has to be a different color.
She loves blueberry muffins, hold the blueberries.
Instead of taking cupcakes to her class today, she wanted me to make and bring cinnamon strudel muffins.
Kiera has had a vibrato since she was two. She loves to sing.
I love my little 6 year old so much and can't imagine life without her. She takes a mile a minute (although she is silent at school) and the house has been so quiet without her.

Happy birthday, Kiera!!
